Our Selwood Equine team have had a successful few days. Hilary Boss, an Equine team member, reports on the recent events.

Ascott Under Wychwood Horse Trials, Oxfordshire. April 14th and 15th
This was a glorious setting for a weekend of competition in which Selwood Zabala De Foja (Foxy) and Selwood Grey Star (Star) would compete in their respective classes BE 100 Open and BE 80.

Foxy
The Dressage test went very well and was a huge improvement from Burnham Market thus gaining some fantastic marks and comments; overall scoring 34.5 penalties (65.5%) A big thank you to my sister, Kirsty for those last minute tips.
The Show jumping warm up went fantastically with Kiwi team rider Jonelle Richards on hand to give her professional advice. Team Selwood carried out yet another very clean performance and thus a clear round from myself and Foxy. Going forward to Cross Country on 34.5 penalties; a competitive score.
Cross Country was exhilarating for horse, rider and spectators who could see (or barely see Foxy due to the speed she passed at). The combination steamed round without any jumping or time penalties. Team Selwood supporters were extremely joyous as they met us at the finish.
Overall score 34.5 penalties and 10th out of 40.
That evening the horses stabled on site and I stayed in our Gazeley Exclusive I Horsebox, to recuperate for what would hopefully be another great day of competition on Selwood Grey Star.

Star
Star went well in the dressage despite his lack of knowledge for this phase. He scored a respectable 39 penalties.
The show jumping warm up went perfectly and he felt very ‘up for it’ and indeed he was jumping a clear round, around a rather undulating and spooky track that caused many problems for other competitors.
The cross country course was again spooky and testing. Star warmed up well for his first BE XC track. With some determined riding he went on with courage around the rest of the course. Finishing clear but with 8.8 time penalties. Go Super Star!

An amazing weekend for Team Selwood with results that we could not ask any better for!
