Slide characteristics

High sided Rails –  All our slides hold extra high sided rails at the top of the slide to help children get onto the slide and also prevent any falls / accidents.

Raised Bottom Lip – Each slide has a raised lip at the bottom so the kids hit the ground with their feet landing firmly on the floor and not their bottoms.

UV Inhibitors - Each slide is UV tested and has built in UV Inhibitors to protect it from the sun’s rays. This helps keep the product cool and not too hot to touch for when in use by the kids.

Reinforced Slide Rear – All our slides have reinforced rears which adds extra stability to the structure of all slides. This extra support also helps withstand the pressures of children running up the wrong way up the slide and any other strains it may be put under.

Tube & Curved Slide

Our fantastic Tube slide range is a proven hit with all children. The tube slides allow children to ride down from a decent of 3.65m (12ft) in total and take up the least amount of space when compared to all other slides we offer with our play sets. The slide turns in on itself rather than sticking out to the front or side of the play set. It spirals once in the middle and flattens at the bottom so children land on their feet and can soon be on their way up the play set ready to slide down again.

The curved slide range consists of slides slightly longer than all straight slides. This is predominately down to the design of the curved slides with the fixed bend in place that curves round to the front of each play set. This feature not only gives children a slightly longer ride but adds great character to the overall appearance of the frame itself. Like all straight slides our curved range all feature high rails to ensure maximum possible safety for your children.

The Clair-Monte Climbing Frame New To Climbing Frames UK

The Clair-Monte is manufactured by Selwood Products and retailed through Climbing Frames UK. This frame is brand new to Climbing Frames UK and will look fantastic in any garden.

Who should buy it?
If you have active children who love to jump from one activity to the next this will be the climbing frame for you. There is a swing beam with two belt swings and a 2 child-glider and a separate monkey bar beam. It is also great for those who have younger children. The deck height is 4ft which is high enough but not too high for little ones. There is even space below the upper play deck to create a sand play area. This is great for younger children who may not be quite ready for the main set. There is even a rock wall ladder designed specifically to help younger children climb up to the play deck. There are both climbing rocks and gaps in the slats so they can use the gaps as footholds if they aren’t confident with climbing.

What kind of garden do you need?
The Clair-Monte climbing frames features two beams, one either side, so a wider garden is ideal. We recommend you always place your swing set on grass and not concrete. It is also a good idea to put it on flat ground. a few bumps and a very slight slope is fine.

What makes it so special?
The Clair-Monte includes some fantastic features like;
UV resistant tarpaulin roof
Vinyl chalk wall
Spacious upper play deck
Monkey bars
Two belt swings

Selwood slides – The differences.

For most children it’s all about the slide. Many families get the kids in on the climbing frame decision making and for little ones all the focus is on the kind of slide the playset will have. It has to be fun, it has to be speedy but it also has to be safe. We have 3 different slides that we fit to our climbing frames. They vary in shape and length and a customer’s decision making can be far simpler if they know the main differences.

The Straight Slide.

We call this the straight slide but it may also be referred to as the straight wave slide or straight wavy slide. This is due to the slight bump in the middle which gives it a little bit more excitement and fun. The straight slides that accompany our 4ft (121cm) decks are 8ft (243cm) in length and those on the 5ft (152cm) decks are 10ft (305cm) in length. As the slide is generally positioned at the front of the frame we suggest the straight slide, and climbing frames with the straight slide, for those with longer gardens. The high rails (which are also a feature of the curved slide) provide safety for little ones at the top of the slide. The higher rails create what is called a ‘deep dish’. The area where their little bottoms go is deeper and therefore safer. There is far less chance of them toppling over the side or hurting themselves and the high sides keep them firmly in place. The end of the slide is flattened out which means that they land on their feet rather than straight into the mud. The straight slide comes as one piece which means it takes just a  matter of minutes to clip onto the frame. A great bonus for any Mums and Dads doing the build themselves.

The Curved Slide.

The curved slide, or the curved wavy or wave slide, is a great space saver as it curves around from the side to the front of the climbing frame rather than sticking straight out to the side or to the front. The curved slides for the 4ft decks are 10ft (305cm) in length and those on the 5ft decks are 12ft (366cm). Without stating the obvious this gives a longer ride for the children than the straight slide and the curve adds a little more excitement. The curved slides also feature the high rail sides and ‘deep dish’ to keep children on the slide and safe. It also has the flattened out bottom to stop them whizzing straight into the mud. The curved slide comes in just 3 parts and snaps together in 10-15 minutes. With all the excitement the kids will be begging to go down the slide the minute you attach it to the frame. However we would strongly advise that you try to hold them off until the slide supports are firmly in place otherwise the slide could become damaged and the children could be hurt.

The Tubular (spiral) Slide.

The spiral or tubular slide has a ride length of 12ft (366cm). It is also a fantastic space saver. As it twists back on itself it doesn’t take up a lot of space. The tubular slide has one spiral in the middle and is flat at the bottom so again little ones don’t land straight in the mud, but come out feet first. The spiral slide comes flat packed in a small box to keep delivery costs down. This means it will take longer than the other slides to construct but it looks fantastic, like something from an adventure playground or corporate play park. There is a great blog over on Climbing Frames UK on how to assemble the tubular slide if you need any help or tips. Click here to read it.

We suggest those with older children (9 years+) don’t go for the climbing frames with spiral slides, the curved ones are far better for older children. It is also good to bear in mind if you have very young children (3 years) that you can’t see them as they go down the slide. Sometimes really little ones like to hold their parents hand as they go down, which isn’t possible with the tubular slide.
