New Year’s Resolutions; why do we make them and what are yours for 2013?

According to Wikipedia, a New Year’s resolution is a commitment that we make to one or more personal goals, projects or the reforming of a habit. It is made in anticipation of the New Year and new beginnings. We all know the most common ones; spend more time with family and friends, be more active, eat healthy, cut back on drinking and smoking, lose weight etc etc. Have you and your family sat around finishing off the chocolates and mince pies and making your long lists? Can you promise to stick to them all?

Why not make one or two achievable goals for your new year’s resolutions? Stick to sensible achievements and ones you can do with a friend or a family member. If you want to exercise more and get fitter then strike up an exercise plan with a friend; aim to go for walks or runs a couple of times a week. Regular exercise has been associated with many health benefits.
Quit smoking with another smoker, diet with someone else who wants to lose weight and cut back on drinking with a pal who feels the same as you about it, that way you can support each other when you feel a little wobble coming on. So how was your Christmas? Are you now feeling the pinch both in your wallet and around your waistline?! Keeping the children entertained over the Christmas holidays!

With the Christmas holidays nearly upon us, what can we do to make sure the children stay entertained whilst at home? We know they will have fun playing with their presents but we also know that this won’t last long! Think ahead and prepare yourself with a range of activities bound to keep the little ones entertained during the school holidays.

Brilliant Baking - Get them in the kitchen with you and spend time baking together. Children love to create sweet treats to eat and we have found a great recipe from the Mail Online’s food & drink section for ‘Festive Fairy Cakes’ – yummy little treats flavoured with warming wintery cinnamon and zesty orange! Why not try gingerbread or shortbread and use Christmas cutters to make seasonal shaped treats?

Dabble in some dough – For the younger children why not make your own play dough. Use green and red colouring to give it a more festive appearance. It’s so simple; here is Selwood’s recipe;
150g plain white flour
300ml warm water
Few drops red or green food colouring
75g salt
1 tbsp vegetable oil
2tsp cream of tartar

Place all ingredients into a saucepan and heat over a medium heat, stirring constantly. The mixture will thicken and form a ball of dough. Remove from the saucepan and allow to cool. Knead well. If the mixture is too sticky add some flour, or if it is too dry add some water. When cold store in an airtight container, in a cool dry place.

Get Crafty – Dig out the paper, sticky tape and colouring pens and get creative with Christmas crafts. Why not use up old scraps of wrapping paper and make paper chains for the children to hang in their bedrooms. What to do if you find a part is Missing or Damaged? #PartsRequest

At Selwood Products we try our best to supply all of our products in pristine condition, but unfortunately due to the number of parts, size and weight of the products, on some occasion’s damage may occur during shipping or transportation. If this has happened to you then may we pass on our sincere apologies and assure you that we do understand your frustrations, and will do our best to rectify the situation as soon as possible. If you find yourself in the position of needing to replace any damaged or missing parts to your play set please follow these simple steps stated below:

Parts Request – Step by Step Guide!

  • Firstly, we request that you check all parts and, if necessary, make a list of any damaged or missing items. It may help to label/number the parts when checking them against the parts and hardware lists on the instructions.
  • Secondly, on our website you will need to complete a quick online parts request form. On the form you will be required to enter all standard information from your Full name, Email, Address and Specific Product purchased. You will also need to state in the columns provided any specific part numbers/codes and quantities. For Insurance Purposes for all Damaged parts we need photos to be attached to every parts request. Again a link to upload photos will be available to the customer on our online parts form.  We will then process your request and get the replacement parts sent out to you as soon as possible.
  • Completing this form is the most efficient method of claiming your parts because the list and all necessary information is sent directly to our Parts Team and will be processed as a priority ! All our Parts Requests are sent out either via Royal Mail or by Tuffnells Parcels Express a UK Nationwide Company.

Selwood At The Royal Norfolk County Show

Selwood Products will be taking a range of our climbing frames, trampolines and Yardistry structures, screens and accents to the Royal Norfolk Show June 27th and 28th. With the wind putting a stop to our fun at the Suffolk Show earlier this month we are excited to spend two sunny days at The Royal Norfolk Show (fingers crossed). The Norfolk Show is always fantastic fun and great for families. There are all kinds of animals – goats, sheep, cow, pigs, heavy horses and even miniature horses. There is also family entertainment all day as well as a vintage fun fair complete with Ferris wheel and helter skelter.

We love getting out and about and meeting our potential customers. We now sell our climbing frames, Yardistry and trampolines direct from the Selwood Shop and it’s great for people to get to touch and feel the products before they buy them. We will be at stand 235, Avenue 8 between 1st and 2nd drive.

We don’t want to blow our own trumpet but we were Highly Commended for the best non-agricultural stand at the Suffolk show. See below for proof. So we are definitely worth a visit.

Climbing Frames and Yardistry at the Suffolk Show

It’s half term and you are quickly running out of things to do with the children (if you don’t already have one of our Selwood climbing frames that is) so if you are in the Suffolk area we would strongly suggest you pack up the family and visit the Suffolk County Show.

The Suffolk Show is always a huge success packed full of things for the whole family to do. There is a shopping village, a children’s farm, a military zone, an equine village and lots more. We will of course be showcasing a selection of our climbing frames including the Althorp Deluxe, the Sherborn and the Burghley along with a vast range of our Yardistry screens, structures and accents. This is a great opportunity to see this gorgeous contemporary garden range in the flesh.

At the show will be the York 12 x 12 Garden Room, the Kensington arch, a medium and large corner structure, Victoria Garden screen, Regent accent and Harley single planter amongst others.
